Carnival of Cycling

IMG_1900The Warrandyte Festival is on again in March 21-23 and the program is getting the finishing touches. This year the will be an event that is part of the festival entitled the Carnival of Cycling. There are four rides being run, A Family Ride, Social Ride, Cycling TT and a MTB ride. All with different co-ordinators and all ending around the same time with a BBQ.

2014 Warrandyte Festival Carnival of Cycling – 4 RIDES – MARCH 23

Location: All rides leave from Warrandyte Netball Courts, Taroona Avenue (opposite IGA). Melways Ref 35 C1.

Registration: Print out, complete and hand in the registration form at the registration desk on the day (Family Bike Ride forms available at the event only).

Post event: There will be a BBQ afterwards at Warrandyte netball courts. Cost: Free.


RIDE 1: Cycling TT 8.30am

Info: A 41km road ride, timed using Strava. Heads out through Kangaroo Ground, Smiths Gully and St Andrews, returning via Hurstbridge and Wattle Glen. Neutral start and finish through Warrandyte.

RIDE 2: Social Ride 9.00am – 10.30am

Info: A 20-25km intermediate social ride on quiet back roads, leaving from Warrandyte out to Park Orchards for coffee and return.

RIDE 3: MTB Ride 8.30am – 10.00am

Info: A mountain bike ride through Warrandyte and surrounding hills.

RIDE 4: Family Bike Ride 9.00am

Info: Designed for families, this ride starts at the Warrandyte Netball Courts and travels through the Festival precinct to the Stone House, then up to Black Flat. The ride will then return to the Netball Courts, retracing all steps. Riders must provide their own safety gear. Children under 15 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
